Step 1 – Protecting your most Valuable Asset

23 July 2019 by Joanne Dugdale

The Most Important Insurance of All

No one likes paying for insurance, why would you, you may not get anything out of it. But is that really such a bad thing??

There are very few people who are willing to take the risk and not purchase travel, car or house insurance but what about insuring yourself. If you don’t insure your most valuable asset; your ability to generate an income, how will you or your family pay for the holiday, car, mortgage if you became ill or worse died?

Life’s complicated enough when you’re fit, well and have a steady income. No one needs the added financial, practical and emotional problems that a death or illness can bring.

When you put it like that….I know it seems crazy not to have it.

But it is understandable that many of us would rather not think about it. Protection insurance can’t stop death or a critical illness, but it can make dealing with the financial consequences a lot easier.

Personal protection insurance should be the first step of your financial plan and it will remain the cornerstone.

1.     Protect your Liabilities – Mortgage Protection

Insure yourself against the risk you cannot pay the mortgage due to critical illness or death.

Life or Critical illness cover pays out a lump sum if you’re diagnosed with one of a list of critical illnesses and meet the definition for your plan or you died.

2.     Protect your Lifestyle – Income & Family Protection

Insure yourself against the risk that you cannot maintain your or your families standard of living due to illness or death.

Income Protection cover pays out a regular income if you are unable to work due to sickness or disability.

Family Protection cover pays out a regular income if you’re diagnosed with one of a list of critical illnesses and meet the definition for your plan or you died.

Having protection in place will make a difference. The money you receive will help you pay your rent and bills while you’re ill – leaving you to focus on getting better. It could also mean you don’t need to dip into any hard-earned savings.

So is the fact that you haven’t had to claim against one of these policies such a bad thing. Absolutely Not! because you have had a healthy and hopefully, happy life. Lucky you! Just think what life would be like, if you were one of the unlucky ones.

Using our expert product knowledge we can help you understand exactly the amount of insurance you actually need and find the most appropriate solution for you that matches your affordability.
